Every time I turn on my skimmer and reactor my salinity probe doesn't read right salinity starts dropping so when I put it in the return pump section it reads fine is there something to put around the probes so bubbles or nothing affects the readings?

Why don’t you just leave it in the return pump section then if it works correctly there ?

You could try covering it with something that stops bubbles getting near the sensors but it may make it inaccurate without correct water flow.

Never found Apex probe to be accurate long term. Just bought an ice cap unit which matches my refractometer. Not sure why i need to be other instruments when i have a New Apex unit but this has been the experience of many

Does the wire from the probe get near the wires for your skimmer and reactor pumps? If so separate them, the amperage from those pumps running can effect the reading. I have found my salinity probe (all 6 of my Neptune probes actually) to be rock solid and better than I expected.

Mine, not even close to any of these

I have the same problem. I moved the probes to the return pump section and they are fine now. I assumed it was micro bubbles maybe from my skimmer

I gave up on my salinity probe. It has been out of wack since day one. I have moved the probe to every single nook in my tank and it fluctuates around 33.4 and 35. I have three refractometers that confirmed the probe is the problem.

The salinity probe is extremely susceptible to physical fouling - detritus, algae, bubbles - which will throw off the readings. I keep mine in my RDSB that is dark and bubble free. Use it for monitoring and alerts only.
