I'm wondering what the acceptable temp variance is for the Apex temp probe. Mine seems to drift off by almost a full degree in less than 24 hours of calibration. Since my heaters are tied to this probe Im a bit concerned about the lack of accuracy. It is several years old so is a replacement reasonable? Are the alternative (better) probes that will work with Apex controller?

When you say your heaters are tied to the Neptune probe, how do you have them configured? Yes, it's possible it may be due for a replacement - but some variation during the day is also to be expected.

This seems about right... few years and then replace. I don't know of a better probe with an Apex, but it probably doesn't matter too much if you are only using it for monitoring. If you are controlling heaters, then I guess that you have to keep a good eye on it, but something more reliable like a Ranco might be worth looking into.

The Apex probes are not super expensive and you probably get what you pay for at about thirty dollars.
