I just got a couple of non HD Hydra 26's and would like to have more control over them. Since I'm finding it hard to come by an AI controller since they are no longer being sold. I know the Apex VDM can control it, does that need to be added to an Apex system or can it be a stand alone unit that I can throw on my tank? I'm pretty sure it needs to be in the system but I can't find the answer.

I asked this question in the Apex Forum and got this answer:

"The Hydras can be controlled over IOTA (through your network), so all you actually need is a VDM, a long aquabus cable, and the tunze to apex cable to control those."

Okay I think I'm following but just to make sure: I don't have any other Apex parts, I can use the vdm by itself to control the lights?

TBH I haven't even setup my APEX yet so I'm not 100% positive. I would assume from the response I got on the APEX forum that all you need is the VDM module and wifi in your home.

We can try and bring in some APEX outside support for this lol
