Which apex system is the best? I'm not a scientist but I want a healthy reef. I know nothing of these systems. What do they test? What do they control? What are the limitations of the different models?

I have the apex standard edition.
Not knowing anything about your reef/equipment. I would start out by saying that the standard edition is where I would start.
