Apex's Salinity Probe - Reef Dudes on YouTube

I was listening to one of his shows on YouTube last night and his guest was talking about how poorly the Apex salinity probe is. The guy from RDs stated that it's not the probe but the fact that the insulation on the wire is way too thin and that if you route it by itself not near any other wires that it works pretty well. Is this fact or fiction?

No idea. My salinity probe wire runs with all the other wires back to the Apex, probably in close proximity to several other wires for pumps, etc.

It definitely could've benefited by having better shielding for the wire, however there are a few facts that Deven is ommiting or doesn't know. Accumulation of bubbles and the fact that the probe isn't of the highest quality also play a role in its poor performance.

I second there is more than meets the eye when it comes to the salinity probe.

I now have one neptune probe that's been wet for over 4 years thats reading as fine as it can be and recently commissioned a 10x pasco probe that I imagine the neptune is based on and it also reads correct.

The big thing is unlike the neptune probe, the pasco probe admits its accuracy is only within +- 10%.

They say the same thing for PH probes to try and isolate from electrical interference.
