does anyone know whether the chemicals in api freshwater nitrate test kit be the same as marine ? I ordered a complete marine test kit and hasnt came yet so after reading 0 amonia the last two weeks I figure id try the nitrate test freshwater, so I did. so if the freshwater test is compatible I got around 10 nitrate. I do know that the color chart is different from freshwater to marine and compared to the chart online that I googled. my tank is a 24 nano cube and I purchased a bag of live sand and purchased 2.5 lbs of live rock from my lfs. I have like 22lbs of rock for the lr to seedalso in the tank. is it possible the tank is cycled ? now im aware it varies on the tank to cycle. im also aware the nitrate test kit was from my freshwater tests but notice that my amonia test kit from api is for both fresh and marine and has two color charts. thoughts ?

Yes there the same liquids just different color charts, if u ever need color charts contact api they normally will mail some out to you.

DSP, thanks for the reply and Reefing thanks for the color chart. so according to what I got im around 20 ppm. so my tank is 24 gallons how much water should I change ? and should I go ahead and do one now or wait for a while ? thanks again

If your tank is cycled, do a 25% water change and toss in a fishy.
