So, my display tank got an outbreak of velvet from an invert I brought in. I moved all my fish to a 75 gallon quarantine. I started with one treatment of Prazi. After a couple of days, my two halichoeres wrasses weren’t looking very well, so I did a 30% water change and ran carbon. They started looking much better. I decided to take the risk and instead of running a second round of Prazi, decided to go straight to copper treatment. After slowly raising copper (copper power) to theroputic levels, and keeping them there for a week, things were looking great, velvet totally cleared up, everyone was eating voraciously. I started to notice one of my clownfish not doing well, stopped eating, clamped fins, and then, white stringy poop. Thinking internal parisite of flukes. Can I treat API General Cure with copper at theroputic levels in the system? Will the wrasses be affected. Figuring it’s best to treat everyone at this point. Let me know your thoughts, thanks!

Generally you only want to run one treatment at a time. Combining medications is not recommended. I'm not sure the complexity of it, but perhaps @Humblefish @Big G @HotRocks @Maritimer or @4FordFamily can explain better than I can :)

If you are speaking of adding it to food to treat for internal parasites and or worms so long as you bind it to the food with seachem focus, you have nothing to worry about.

I would avoid dosing it into the water column to treat for external worms during copper if possible. It can be done with copper. It is alot of medication to dump on the fish all at once. Oxygenation becomes an issue combining them.

You can usually do FW dips to provide relief when dealing with flukes etc. During copper and hold off with praziquantel treatment until copper is finished.

I would add it to the food, but the little guy hasn’t eaten in 3 days. I’m worried that I won’t be able to get him the medication unless I treat the whole tank.

would

I would consider setting up a separate 10g QT and move the fish into that for treating through water column. It's not worth the risk on the other fish IMO.

Chances of the fish ingesting enough through the water to erradicate the internal parasites aren't great.

Then you would have to go back through copper with this fish after that.

That’s the other problem. I already have another 10 gallon QT set up just for my Marine Betta which I’m going to treat with CP. That’s 3 tanks. My wife....................

Lol! Sounds all too familiar!

My saving Grace is an unfinished basement deemed fish room.

I am getting ready to setup a 150g QT to help @4FordFamily stock a 500g system in the near future.

It was fun telling her I had to set up my old 75 gallon (which I promised her I would get rid of) for QT. Oh, by the way dear, I have to get the old 10 gallon going too, love you.

I don’t get more tanks anymore, I just started upgrading. My wife wised up to that after 14 years! :D
