I'm relatively new to the hobby and this is my first post here. Thanks in advance for your help.

I've been having what looks like a GHA issue for a while. It doesn't ever get too out of control, but it's a nuisance. I have cleaned the rocks, tried phosguard, and lowered feeding to help.

Current fish in the tank:
  • 1 - Six line Wrasse
  • 1 - Yellow Tang
  • 2 - Clowns
  • 1 - Dottyback
  • 3 - PJs
It's a 50G AIO from Innovative, and I do a weekly 10% water change.

Any new fish I've added in the last month die within 2 days. All new inverts die as well. The existing crabs/snails are sluggish but alive, and all the existing fish seem to be fine.

My API tests are attached. One is for the DI water (which I store in a 30G bin, non-mixed). The other is my tank results.

I hope I've provided enough information and appreciate all feedback.

Welcome to the forum! Usually you will get a quick response from us but I don't think the chemistry threads are as heavily monitored as some of the other ones. How are you acclimating your new additions? Do you qt them? Also do any of your fish show any signs of diseases currently? These are some of the experts here that may be able to ask the right questions and get you going in the right direction @ngoodermuth @Frtdrmrose7 @HotRocks @4FordFamily

What fish have you tried to add? Both the dottyback and 6-line are known to be less than hospitable to new additions... they could be the culprits.

Phosphate in particular is very high at .14... you want it closer to .02. Especially with an algae outbreak, which would mean in reality it is quite a bit higher since the algae is consuming it also.

Do you have chaeto growing or anything for nutrient export? How is your source water? RO/DI?

Thanks for the welcome! One quick thing, I didn't realize my personal info is in the PDFs I attached. Is there a way to remove them?

I do acclimate by floating, then 2 rounds of 10 minutes of tank water into the bag(s). I don't know what to look for on signs of diseases, so can't answer that question. The fish are not acting erratic or breathing oddly.

I don't have any chaeto growing, but have purchased a media basket for it. One of the PDFs attached was just for the RO/DI water, and concerned it shows high silocon. Does that mean the plastic container holding the water is leaking plastic?

It was suggested to run "flucozanole" by my LFS and waiting for that to decrease the GHA currently. I'm worried though, because not sure if this will spike phosphates in more!

I've tried to add a few emeralds, a fox face (tang bullied him to death), and a blenny. All died within 3-7 days.

@Crabs McJones, is there a way the pdf files attached to the first post on this thread can be edited to remove personal information?

Yes, I can re-attach using a sharpie over my information. Please let me know how to remove or remove them for me. Thanks!

While you're waiting for @ngoodermuth to reply in a little while, browse through the sticky threads under the new to reefing and the fish disease and treatment forums. There's a lot of great information in them

Any additional recommendations on the water results towards a solution? Seems the only issue is high phosphates? Which would be coming from where? The RO/DI shows "silicon", is this from the bucket I'm storing the water in? Any more feedback would be great! Thanks everyone.
