Thinking about trying this algae scrubber out. Anyone have one that could share their thoughts on the quality?

Thanks!

Not familiar with that model of scrubber so I just looked it up...

At $1,300 that is certainly not cheap. It looks like they use non dimmable black box style light fixtures. That seem to run hot per the product description. Beyond that, I don’t have much of any insight.

At that super high price point however, I would seriously look into one of Turbo’s Aquatics larger scrubbers like an L8 or L16. Bud’s scrubbers are fantastically innovative with custom dimmable LEDs with efficient heat sinks that stay cool to the touch, slot pipe light blockers to keep water flow uniform over the screen as algae grows and a removable growth chamber for ease of cleaning and maintenance. The biggest benefits of the dimmable lights is that you can control the lighting intensity and not strip your tank’s of nutrients by turning them down. I use an L2 and absolutely love it!

Thank you! I don't know much about them but I liked that the one I inquired about had a pull out tray for access to the screen instead of having to pull from the top as I don't have a ton of room under the tank. But as you said, that's a lot of money if the value just isn't there. Thank you again!

As you can see, I don’t have much clearance beneath my stand either. My Turbo’s ATS needs about 2” of clearance to remove the growth chamber as it has removable side plates. Here is a head on view of it with the side plate removed. I just need to lift it a little less than 2” and the whole growth chamber, slot pipe and screen slide right out.

Here’s one of Buds video demonstrating the growth chamber removal. In the video, he has the endplate, top plate and right light fixture remove for illustration purposes...
