so i have some rock that is covered in apitasia and i tryed nudachi they seem to die so i was thinking of takin the rock out and soaking them in bleach then putting them in a tub and cycle it out for 6 months will this kill the apitasia or not and is there a better way to do it
thankx
dan

don't put it in bleach, just put it outside for a couple of weeks. If you are hell bent on it, boil the rock but don't, IMO use bleach.

I have same issues you can hit or miss with peppermint shrimp Dan or try file fish gl buddy

If you are able to take the rock out easily, then just let it sit out side for a week, then soak in some RO/DI. Then put it in a bucket with some saltwater and a powerhead and run it for a month or so. But this is just going to clear up that one rock. You will more than likely see it pop up in other places. If you start addressing them as they pop up, you shouldnt have too much of a problem. Get some aiptasia x or make up some kalk paste and hit em with that.

if you feed the pepperment shrimp less they will eventually eat the aptasia. I had a pretty good outbreak and thats what i did, and they went to town on them. have to at least have a group of 3 or more tho.

If you can remove the rock then go for it...treat with something very acidic or very basic...bleach sounds good..This might come in handy: pH Scale Comparisons | BioWorld Products
....find one that is readily available and is furthest from 8.0

I battled with them for a few years but the only thing that got rid of the problem was wild caught peppermint shrimp...I didn't have the luxury of removing the rock
