Hello,
I’m having trouble with my new Apogee 420x. As you can see in the photo, my meter is reading over 3000 PAR with the cover on…. I thought at first it might be the units, but I think the units are right. I tried restoring factory setting, but it did nothing. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Does it show the correct sensor on the bottom left of the screen?
The cables blocking it in the photo above.

That sensor has been discontinued for awhile I believe.
Anyways here is the manual for it..

Maybe the calibration got screwed up.
Yea contact Apogee. Probably could use a re-calibration anyways.

Is the "new" or just new to you?

Does it read in the ballpark when you take the cover off and put it under some light? These are hobby tools after all. I have a Apogee 510 and while I think that it is a good tool for the price, it does not even come close to a $5k LiCor or other rig.

I just tested my 510 and it does read zero with my hand over the sensor. Please let us know what you find out.

I talked to Apogee, and all the settings were right. They said it must be a short in the sensor, resulting in high voltage. The said I should return it to BRS.

First my Apex came from BRS with the wrong software (Neptune’s fault), now I get a faulty PAR meter…..
