Okay. Last post for the day. I apologize for my request postings. I'm still new to the whole thread thing.

Why is my skimmer not producing bubbles? It's the coralife filter with the built in skimmer for it think it was either 20 or 30 gallons. It only ever produces just water. I can't seem to get it to the right spot. I have no idea how to like use the value per say. Right now it's like big bubbles popping and not to the top, maybe 1/4 of the way down the skimmer. I did just did like a 4 gallon water change (20 gallon tank)

Side note, I've never been able to get my skimmer to just produce bubbles.

Can't provide a photo atm

You may have more responses to your post if you put your question about your skimmer in the title so that people know what you’re asking. Plus there is a thread about skimmers in the general equipment forum. You may get better advice from that forum

Thank you!! I was trying to find something like that but I didn't. That's why I just posted it here, but I'll look again!! Thank you!!

Don't be disheartened, those type skimmers are pretty much useless. There is just not enough control. Ideally you would want to get the water level just below the collection cup. But that may be difficult to keep consistent. If your tank is new, you may not have enough organics for your skimmer to work also. On a tank as small as yours, water changes will be more effective than skimming. But do not count out the gas exchange benefits that a skimmer can give you. Unfortunately as I mentioned before keeping this style of skimmer consistent is next to impossible. There are some great nano skimmers out there if you feel you will eventuality need one, but you will probably upgrade before then. 10% water change a week will be proper in the meantime.

@Yesevil123 can you show us a picture of your filtration setup? Are you running this filter in a sump or is it on your display? We can absolutely help with recommendations, but knowing as much about your system as possible will be of help to get you the right solutions. Thanks!

Okay! I'm at work now, so I'll post the pictures when I get home.

It is the coralife skimmer built into the filter if that's any help at the moment. It's for either a 20 or 30 gallon tank.

Cap is off because the light sucks.

It just started to bubble??? When I emptied the cup. It's like foam.

so....it works. Thats whats supposed to happen....now you need to "tune" it. The air inlet should have a screw that you can adjust more air in / less air in.
Less air means wet skim / more means dry skim.....additionally, if I remember your last post, this is a new / newer tank.....so there is nothing to skim

Hows that for quick service LOL..
EDIT: and I would have to agree with Tangarine......its not the greatest skimmer....(but will do a good job for aeration)....I woudl save some $$$ and get a better HOB skimmer

When I first had it on and I emptied all my water from the previous tank in it, i literally had to empty the cup like every 8 minutes. I timed it because it was happening so frequently. I had to turn it off over night because I was afraid it would over flow.

did that water clear up BTW? I know you had that issue also....
It did clear up. But now my tank is FILLED with the diatoms all over the glass. And I have no idea how to make it go away. I haven't like tried to clean it because I read that it will just stick somewhere else. And I have no idea what kind of supplement I would add to reduce it

So like i have what i think might be a fluval HOB skimmer but it's rated like above 50 gallons because I had another saltwater tank but I couldn't get it to cycle properly so I gave up and went back to small tanks

You can use that Fluval..........BTW its a newish tank correct?......you will go thru various forms of algae before the tank settles in.....watch your phosphates, nitrates and over-feeding and you'll be OK......
