You can add a float switch into the lid, when it closes, it can turn off your skimmer pump. You just need a controller, like a Reefkeeper lite or RKE to wire it up.

Sump
with baffles the math says, 36x12x10baffle high
18.7G (not including pump, sand, etc displacement)
+5g water failure overflow.

I reduced the size of last baffle so that it will water level off to th refugiums height.

I put it in laundry room to water test and someone didn't think and went ahead and ran the washingg machine.

I was about to say that you have it setup a lot like I have my 40 breeder sump. Everything pushes towards the middle and it works well for me. Sorry about the crash... If it makes you feel any better, one of mine walked under the open hatch and hit the button to close the garage door... not realizing that he just scratched off about $500 dollars worth of paint on his mother's new van.
