NARC's April meeting is scheduled for Saturday the 17th at 1:00 p.m. at Wetland's Edge Environmental Center in Decatur. If you haven't been before, it's worth seeing. Check out the website home
As far as activities for the meeting, we could do our usual individual frag swapping and take a brief tour of WEEC. Also, some of us might donate frags for the WEEC reef tank. Any other ideas?
Please respond to this thread if you plan to come or have suggestions for the meeting.

We will be coming and bringing our two grandsons. I'm trying to remember as far as frags are concerned; does he have an SPS tank?

Unless they made a change since the last time I visited there, their tank has been a mixed reef containing mostly softies. There might have been some frogspawn or hammer. I recall that some of us donated stonies including a bali slimer, but I don't remember if they are still there.

Yeah, I donated some Pocillipora but Marc didn't act like he knew where he would put it.

Yes, the reef tank there is mostly softies. Lots of star polyps, sarcophyton and mushrooms. There are a couple of small SPS colonies (a pocillopora, maybe an acro or two). Marc said that we are welcome to frag some of his bigger softie colonies for ourselves if we want.

C-you guys there as long as we don't go out of town I'll be there!

After looking at WEEC's website, my 21 year old daughter even said she might tag along just to see the place.

Good news. Was able to work it out where I did not have to work sat. So ill be there.

Will anyone have some frags for sale like at the last meeting. I'm looking forward to picking up a few.

See y'all there

I'll have a couple of things for the WEEC tank and a couple more for anyone else. Also, I'm planning to bring a couple of wads of halimeda macro algae if anyone wants it.

WEEC may still have a big mass of chaetomorpha. I gave them a quart-size bag of it several years ago and they managed to grow it into a kiddie pool size bundle in a real short period of time. I saw a good size amount the last time I visited them, but they started using phosphate remover after that, and I understand that chaeto does not grow as well as it used to. They used to remove a couple of garbage bag full of it every two weeks.

Didn't they have a tank full of Ulva. So much so the added a urchin to control it?

They used to have a lot of Ulva. The last time I saw the shallow tank of Ulva, those huge queen conchs in the tank were decimating Ulva into just bits and pieces. Marc said that queen conchs switched to ulva from cyanobacteria and other nuisance algae when they grew to a certain size.

Interesting.

Too bad they can't downsize their conchs'
