It does for me, but every situation is slightly different.

I have around an inch of extra height when everything is off. I did intentionally set my return nozzles in such a way to get very little back flow when the pump is off though.

Awesome thanks for the reply. Mine has about a gallon more capacity but its going to be the 75 EXT. Hopefully it works out, got a killer deal on the sump.

How's the light working out for you?

Great! But I'm knowingly not using it to its full potential. The system is currently running as a fish only until the move/house purchase (which is actually going to happen!), so I'm just running the LED's at about 33% and not actually running the T5's at all.


For a proper tank update: No new hardware, Thinking about upgrading the H80 to either a 160 or a grow light off Amazon. Really want something that out-competes the display for the refugium, and the current H80 couldn't handle the LED's only at 60%.

I'll try and update with a pic, but I'm getting to watch the dominant lyretail transform, so that's fun.

Long-term/necro update. Moving the hardware went just fine, but some of anthias didn't take it that well. Then I just had life take over focus. Fell into a minimum maintenance mode for the last year and a bit. As the tank currently sits the swimming stock is down to the original clown pair and a Nox angel; I slowly had the remaining anthias drop off one-by-one. But I think I'm ready to get back into getting this think into its stick paradise potential.

Current working plan is to re-evalutate the sump/refugium and get that up to snuff. Then to get it stocked the way I want (thinking wrasses this time, maybe one of the smaller tang's, and still with the eventual mandarin) and let that settle before getting into actual expensive part.
