AipTaser - Aquarium Pest Eradicator - Tropical Reef Corals

And here is something that looks fun. A taser for aptasia! (and anything it touches)

I dont get pests like that so I do limited research, however it is extremely common on quite a few tanks I see, especially pet stores. Is this a product worth bringing up or is it just another scam? I dont think you would be able to get all the pests with this..maybe to assist in getting the obvious ones while nudibranchs or something do the rest? It could very well aid in keeping GSP and stuff at bay, someone claimed "IT works on mushrooms!" lol...

Any thoughts?

they suck, it will just spit out babies everywhere. you need a predator IE: file fish, or CBB

Ok, Its not my tank that has them...EVER...lol. I have always told people berghia nudibranchs. They only eat aptasia....(BTW if any mods have access to the spell check dictionary you should add a few terms to it like aptasia, writing it twice is sooooo hard :))

These were invented by PaulB - a long-time reefer from Long Island and I have heard they work very well for both aptasia and mushrooms. I just ordered one to try on a pesky colony of blue clove polyps and some runaway zoanthids.

I have one of the PaulB originals and think they are great. Works on other encrusting corals you want to stop spreading.

im about to try to make one and use it on star polyps. I am having a heck of a time with them. I frag as many as I can and pass them on, but they wont stop growing back!!! lol.

Fluke tabs...

Don't waste your money. I had one and it was the worst investment ever. Get a laser instead. At least it will actually work.

Laser??? Can u explain this? Never heard or seen a Laser for this? I have used a wand before. Only found that if u cant get all of the aptasia it just returns.

OK....just found a video of the flashlight laser on aptasia... How cool is that... Took about 40 seconds, but burnt that sucker down to the LR... Only question i would have, is ...If the laser is strong enough to burn up the aptasia in the tank, is there any damage done to the glass?? 400+ degree beam through the glass with 78 degree water on the other side, sounds like a potential OH NO.......

Whos' using one? Input?

Mine is 2 watts and takes about 5 seconds to do the job. I also control pest algae and bristle worms with it. My tank is a dangerous place to be if I don't want u there :-)

ritter!! Lol I think you triggered my Gorg to start its aggression...ive had it for like 8 months and it was perfectly straight up...since you posted about the gorg in the coral war photo thread mine has been going for no one else but my RICS!!!! what the heck! haha. I just moved them...it took from then til now to notice, but it straight twisted its whole body.. haha. crazy crazy.

I thought about the laser too...but its only as good as your visibility of the pests as well...
There are still the things in the rock and caves you will never see.. let alone laser or shock. still will need (if its aptasia) shrimp or nudis for the hidden buggers.

The one pictured is a rip off of my invention that has a patent which published a couple of months ago. The full patent will be finalized in a month or so.
A published patent means that when it finalizes, all profits made by other companies that copied it from the time it published become the property of the person holding the patent.
It is past the point of having a patent pending which I had for almost 2 years and I have about $40,000.00 invested in so far.
Over 3,000 of mine have been sold worldwide and it is called Majano Wand
