I notice a small aptasia in my clove polyps this morning. Two questions: what’s the bear way to get rid of it, preferably with something I have at home that won’t screw up water chemistry ( 20 gallon rank)? And secondly, will treating it damage my clove polyps?

Honestly if it is just affecting the blue clove polyps, I would get rid of the entire rock with blue cloves and aiptasia. IMO blue cloves are just as bad as they can quickly overrun a tank, even with mitigation efforts.

I understand that clove polyps are not everyone’s favorite item, and there is a risk of very fast growth. However, I like them, and would like to get rid of the aptasia only

Does it actually need to be injected with a needle? Or just on top of it

Injection is best. If you just layer it, it will just irritate it. Also, I heard that injections (i.e. lemon juice, kalk) may cause the aiptasia to spread. Is the rock removable? If so, take it out, scrape of as much as you can from between the clove polyps. Rinse well with saltwater. And cover it gel superglue or epoxy. When I had aiptasia, I liked to feed it before doing this stuff cuz it will ingest the food and when it closes up, the mass can be seen better, but that's just me. Good luck.
