My DT is spotless from algae, and aptasia. My sump has about 20 aptasias that I can see.. Is this ok? Should I aptasia x them? Will they make it into my DT sooner or later?

No they spread fast as heck. Go get two or three peppermint shrimp or kalk paste on the oral disk will work great. Good luck and I would get on them in a hurry before they over run your system.

I have a ton of them in my overflow I guess I'll throw a peppermint in there I have 0 in my display I guess my peppermint keeps them in check !

Don't they create spores that drift into your main? They can swim too can't they lol. Aptasia is like a disease

On the other hand. heard that people have successfully used Aptasia as a form of filter. I read a book : Book of Coral Propagation by anthony Calfo. that explained this set up. Maybe someone can help give better info on this for me?

They do filter feed but you would have to really isolate them and IMO it is not worth the risk of a epidemic if they get into the main system. Think of it this way the more you use for filtration the more probable they are going to migrate to the main system. And I do believe he was talking about using it as filtration for a peppermint shrimp brood stock tanks. could be wrong though.

+1 yes

if they get irritated they spill there guts releasing 1000's of babies I use a siphon and suck them out with any water around them but I have only had a few here and there

That is awesome. I'm glad to hear they solved your issue, I had never heard of having them in the sump.

I don't have any in my tank but I think a piece of LR I put in there from a friend brought me them.
