Aptasia on frag plug! How to NOT introduce?

What do I do?

I'd honestly rather toss the frag than to introduce these suckers.

Cut half the frag off and leave the other half with the aiptasia on it? I personally would take the loss.

Maybe try and split the frag plug along the vertical axis.. Use a chisel (or big screw driver) and hammer, hitting just below the top, so the bottom half of the "table top" and mounting leg break off?

Otherwise, I'm with you. I introduced aptasia to my tank, and have been battling it for a year...

Cut off the stem. Super glue over the bottom of the plug and let it dry in a bowl of tank water. One option at least...

super glue the snot outta it after you wipe kalk past on it after you scrub/ scrape w screwdriver chisel.

Thanks folks. I ended up using my dremel amd cutting the entire bottom layer off the plug. Had to cut some of the coral too but i'm confident i got it all. Re-dipped and got it in the tank.

watch it like a hawk, any signs of aptasia, zap it with kalk or aptasiaX. These organisms have a reputation of surviving and adapting! Good luck

Thanks. I feel confident i got it all. I dipped(i know it doesnt kill it) and did multiple tankwater rinses.

Most definitely will keep an eye on it

You can also use peppermint shrimp. They do a great job getting rid of it. I had probably 15-20 heads of aptasia in my tank at one point, so I added 3 peppermint shrimp and they had it all gone in 4 days. They are also great for picking up leftover food. Only complaint would be that they like to eat the food out of the mouth of some of my corals from time to time so you have to watch for this. If I didn't feed coral then I would have any complaints about them.

That reason is why my peppermint shrimp went back to the LFS
