I have my first piece of aptasia growing. Truth be told, I saw it in the sump first and then it disappeared and so i never thought anything of it. Well come two weeks later I found it attached to the underside of my DT rock.

I want to use something like F Aptasia to erradiccate this before it gets out of hand but I was wondering if it can even be applied since it's on the underside and the F-Aptasia will likely just fall down because of gravity. Anyone have experience or thoughts on how to handle this?

Can you take the rock out and apply the stuff? Is it a pain to remove the rock, treat and replace?
Unfortunately not because it's part of the main rock structure.

I'm thinking I'll have to make a small plastic cup or something and hold it there while the f aptasia settles

Can you take the rock out to apply it? Doesn't it need to be open to place the stuff into the center of it? Just wondering, because when I take it out the water it shrivels up.

I have yet to apply it, somewhat dreading the potential further outbreak if it doesn't work as planned.

I've seen people including Frank himself apply it underwater and in my case I will need to do the same as well, This piece is too large to remove from the tank.

Get a peppermint shrimp; they literally hang out on the underside of rocks; it will take care of it within days.

Aiptaisa X is actually eaten by the little jerks and then kills them quickly. Might try that if you are having an issue where it needs to be placed upside down and you can't just stick something there.

Yeah I usually do it all under water. Squirt it in the center and they will eat it and implode and die.

+1 for Aiptasia X. I killed my first one yesterday and it was incredibly efficient.

I tried Aiptasia X and it did seem to kill them, but then they multiplied and spread in my tank.
I used F-aiptasia and that works and they do not spread, but you would need to flip the rock so that the aiptasia is on top and then use F-aiptasia. This stuff solidifies over the anemone and you can blow or suction it off a week or 2 later.
If it drops on coral the f-aiptasia will burn it.

Super glue, f aptasia, epoxy are all good options. What ever you choose, you should do it sooner than later.

do you know how long it took to harden up?

I don’t. But I can do a test on a piece of rock I have if you want me to... I’ll do a big blob On one of my rocks and see how long it takes to solidify.
I always left it for 24 hours and never checked before that.
