120g mixed reef that has a Kole Tang and two clowns. Also some snails, hermits and a coral banded shrimp.

While battling with a QT tank, multiple equipment failures and general life problems I let Aptasia get away from me.

Typical solutions include Aptasia X, peppermint shrimp, or Copper banded butterfly. Did I miss anything?

Ultimately it is my choice but I'd be interested to hear from the seasoned reefers. How would you combat a fairly mature aptasia problem in a tank such as this?

I use Aiptasia-X and prefer to stay on top of them. I've heard the matted filefish? will also eat aiptasia. Beware peppermint shrimp if you have Euphyllia. I've had peppermints pick on Euphyllia until polyp bailout occurred.

I think a Filefish will eat Aptasia.

I had a huge apstatia problem in my 300 dropped about 10 peppermint shrimp in, all gone in about a week. Then added a marine beta without checking diet - all peppermint shrimp gone . Apstatia hasn't come back luckily.

Peppermint shrimp, bergheria nudis, kleini butterfly are gonna be your best livestock options... otherwise just squirt a bit of ph down into the aptasia's mouth via syringe

I've used aptasia x before. Works great unless the mouth is at an angle or facing downward. Then it all just falls off.

Although I wouldn't consider myself a season reefer, I thought I would throw in my two cents. From what you listed as your livestock, berghai udibranches might be your best bet. Although pricey I hear they do a good job. But you can't have any kind of wrasses or larger crabs like my Sally Lightfoot. After spending $150 for a small pack of them. I also found a gorilla crab and a monster fire worm in my tank shortly after introducing them.. Needless to say they didn't do much for me except feed a few hitchhikers.
I tried keeping up with them with the aptAsia X and also got a laser to help with the battle, but they just kept coming like a herd of zombies.
I recently broke down and got a filefish. He is going to town on them if is detritus is any sign. Hoping he doesn't pivot towards any corals, but keeping my fingers crossed.
Hope my experience helps you out. Good luck with the battle and stay strong.

I have a filefish that ate all of the Alptasia I had and I had a ton two weeks later. There were none. Great weed eater is what I call him. Lol
