I don't know if it works but I read a post on a forum about three years ago that said to use soda water on new live rock to force pest of all sorts out before putting in display tanks.

I had a rock recently have some that was piggybacking on it. I used peppermint shrimp they went to town on the stuff now they just act as cleaners since the job is done and I don't believe they mess with the coral, never seen them do it anyway. I also, used salt awhile back, I pulled the rock out and just as"salt"ed (:wink:sorry couldn't help it) the thing never came back.

Yep aiptasia are a pain. If you end up juiceing them with any paste juiceing will become part of your regular maintenance. Fish and shrimp are probably the worst way to cover up the problem. If the fish and shrimp ever leave the system you will notice a nice bloom of aiptasia. Fish and shrimp simply cannot get into the porous parts of the rock where aiptasia hide. If there is one there is most likely 10 more you don't see. People use fish they may not see anymore aiptasia but they are still there. Give the aiptasia a gentle touch, see if it retracts into a hole. If hey dose use some frag glue to seal him in. If more pop up don't waste any time look into getting a pair of berghia nudibranch.
