I have an outbreak of 30 of these guys in my 55 tank. The polyps range from about an inch in diameter (not counting the tenticles) to little babies that are barely recognizable.
Im planning to do the calcium in a syringe method. My idea is to treat 5 at a time, once a week before a 20% water change.
My question is, which ones should I start with? I could probably do more of the little guys per treatment, but are the bigger ones more of a concern.
BTW, these guys populate Fast! Wish my corals would

I would guess to treat the larger ones first as I imagine those are mature enough to release spores and reproduce.
If possible based on your current tank inhabitants, I'd recommend getting a few peppermint shrimp. I must have had 100's of Apastia a few months ago and now only have several here and there.

I'm assuming the "calcium in a syringe" is pickling lime/kalkwasser/calcium hydroxide.

If so, just keep an eye on the calcium (and alk) level in your tank. You can quickly raise alk too fast and potential cause alk-burn.

My wife and I love the looks of peppermint shrimp. But we bought a melanarus wrasse a while back not knowing. And the wrasse is staying. We love her too.
I was thinking about that, hitting tbe mature ones first. Makes sense.
Thanks

David

I tried Peppermint but my Melanurus made a quick snack of them. My CBB did eat them at first but has stopped. Through out all this I was still using Aptasia-X on them as well. The ones out in the open were easy to kill and smother so they wouldn't come back, but not so much with the ones in the holes and crevices. I believe those were the cause of the infestation I have now since I wasn't able to kill them off they multiplied.
I just placed an order for Berghia Nudibranch as my last resort. Because of the cost I was reluctant fearing the Wrasse would devour them like the Peppermints. The Nudis are nocturnal and feed on the Aptasia at night and the Wrasse is buried under the sand by then so I'm crossing my fingers and taking a chance.
