Hi everyone back with another question... I noticed this in my tank today and I’m thinking I already know what it is but just need confirmed. Aptasia? If not what could it be? I tried to take some pictures but I don’t think there the greatest because there small so hard to see. But I have been watching them and when anything gets near them like snails or shrimp they disappear then come right back and when I put food in the tank they did the same thing if it is what do I need to get to get rid of it? First time I’ve ever dealt with this.

Doesnt look like aptasia from what I can see. It looks more like a fan worm.

I would get rid of it either way. Take the rock out and chisel it out. Pictures isnt all that clear. Could be feather duster but cant id without clear picture

That’s what I originally thought but I have theee different spots they popped up today?
Yeah without a clearer pic it's hard to say, but when in doubt take em out I always say. Better safe than sorry :)

The one on the coral I thought was what it was but the others don’t look like that. But now I’m questioning if it is

I agree with the diagnosis of aiptasia, aka glass anemone. Kalk will work or the product Aiptasia Rx. There is definitely a wrong way to use those though. Make sure you start with a small, slow dose as the anemone initially reacts like it is food so it takes some in to its oral disc and by then it's too late for it to survive. Then make sure to cover the tentacles also and follow up by checking the spot daily to make sure the little ******* is gone and check every other spot in the tank daily for a while as they can break off and regrow. In the future, dip ALL new coral additions in Revive for at least 10 minutes and gently scrub frag plugs and/or rocks that the coral is on with a toothbrush before putting into display.

Not kidding here young lady.
Lasers will destroy that stinky pest.
To bad you’re in NH as you could borrow laser I got.
Lol I know I saw videos of it being done ;Walkingdead but I’m not that high techo_O so there’s lots of brands? Any brands works the same? And what about aptasia x or joes juice? Do the same things? To many options ;Nailbiting

If the one on the coral is a feather duster will kalk kill it? It looks different so I’m thinking it is but don’t want to take any chances

Just stick with the old school kalkpaste which is the same as aptasiaX, it’s proven inexpensive and effective.

Yes it will.
You can kill any coral with the kalkpaste.
Hobbyist use it to control mushrooms and pallys in the reef tank as well.
