Aptasia?

I’m quoting Red Sea and hundreds of other people. There’s always different effective ways for everything.
true... not many companies put out an inferior product and call it the bees knees. (sarcasm)

we will have to agree to disagree on this one.

by the time you stress an aiptasia twice to treat it it has already spread its spores. entombment or removal is only way imo.

The rock is new. You could pop it out of the tank and hit the area that has aiptasia with boiling water. I had success with this cheap easy method when my rock was new.

Got a couple of new rocks today for the tank tank which are cool. And then after things get settled again I notice these guys. They kind of look like aptasia but a different color and form. Can anyone confirm what this is please and thank you?

For sure aptasia, and some large ones at that. Zap them immediately as the pop up. It always takes a couple of zaps to get rid of them.

I am new to this hobby so I’m pretty clueless about what is good and bad in a reef tank. I have a couple of live rocks with a lot of pink grassy looking stuff that the LFS said was a polyp of some sort. All of my research seems to indicate that it is Aiptasia. First, help me identify this. Second, is the only problem that it grows like a weed and is not the most aesthetically pleasing? And third, is a Filefish or Butterfly Fish more effective than Nudibranch to manage this?

Kleini butterfly all the way. Won’t eat coral like filefish

Looks like a glove polyp.

Thanks! I found a few disparate varieties of Glove polyp but LiveAquaria has a picture that looks just like mine so I think you are correct. I guess it isn’t the scourge that Aiptasia seems to be. Though it seems to be pretty prolific. My LFS has this stuff climbing up the glass! Thanks again for your quick identification!
