Could frozen cubes be harboring aptasia? My tank has been pretty much empty and cycling for the past 3 months. I have my clowns in there and just been feeding flakes. I’ve been watching the tank like a hawk because of my last aptasia outbreak. I wanted to mix up the feeding of the clowns so a couple weeks ago I got some frozen cubes from petsmart. My tank has been perfect until today when I noticed 4 aptasia. The only thing different that has went in the tank was the frozen food. Could it be?

I doubt it, it wouldn't survive frozen. Did you recently buy corals or live rock?

So the tank was started with dry rock only. Do you have another tank in the house. Did you keep anything from a previous system?

I don’t believe frozen cubes would introduce Aiptasia. They are basically tiny anemones. Just take an anemone (any species) and put it in the freezer for 24 hrs. It’s not gonna make it.
