I have some but a different kind. I added about 15 hermit crabs for my 75 gallons and 1 month later or so I have a lot less.

This rock has at least 2 different kinds of hydroids. The standard fluff on end of a stalk and this Christmas tree stuff.

Either Aiptasia or a different kind of hydroid (I struggle with differentiating the two when it looks like that - sorry), but, either way, you probably don't want it in your tank.

I'm starting to think I don't want any of this rock or sand in my tank. Maybe keep some baby starfish and the pistol shrimp and decorator crabs and sell it to someone at the local club, if anyone even wants it(small club)

Depending on the hydroid species and the tank, that might work. Hopefully someone with experience dealing with these guys will chime in for you, but - in the meantime - I've heard smothering them with kalk paste may work, and here are some other threads with suggestions:

So I have this stuff that has pretty much taken over my tank and I can't get rid of it. I'm looking for an ID and an eradication plan that is anything short of a total teardown.

Previous nem is a curlyque. Tents will get more curly over time. Can’t watch the video on my phone. Can you get some pics?

As for the hydroids, just pull the rock, scrub with a tooth brush in some old water shake around and then apply a little peroxide to those spots. Most of those hydroids will die in our tanks anyways, but that speeds it up.

If they'll die out on their own, perfect. I'd rather not kill stuff off with peroxide, I have time to wait a few months, then I'll make my decision. I'll try to get pics but for some reason my phone won't focus on those in camera mode like it does in video and I can't manually change the f stop. I'll see if my girlfriend phone can.
