In my newbie days I bought 2 Maxi Minis. They anchored themselves into nice little holes. Leaving me no way to get at the foot so that I can remove them safely. I must remove them as both have eaten 3 of my fish! Now I'm thinking in drastic terms :(
1 way is to force them completely into the holes and then to cover the holes with putty. Or AptisiaX?
You can see both here, left side center.

Be a shame to kill them.
Try covering them with live rock rubble so that it blocks all light, but not enough to crush them.
They should move out of the spot they are in to get better light.

Can the rock be removed? If so hammer and chisel the rock around the nems and they should come off nicely. You can put them in a breeder box or net until they can be re-homed.

Trust me I really dont want to kill them. But the rock is the main rock in the tank and at 15lbs it would totally ruin my tank if removed. Guess I'll just have to pray they dont get my new Scooter before I can upgrade :)
Stupidest newbie purchase ever!!

I have forced a couple maxi-mini's to move, by doing exactly as I suggested. Block their light and access to food and they will move.

That's probably the best thing to try. The only other thing I can think of is pointing a powerhead at them until they move.

aptasia x will work if that is your only option. Some people have to kill star polyps when others love them...one mans coral is another mans pest. Sad, but sometimes its the only option. I would attempt to relocate it by the above techniques first of course but yeah....Apx killed a shrimp in my friends tank, woops. it can kill anything i think.

Good luck with your maxi, I was successful in getting mine to move but I had to get very physical to get it off and it took about 2.5 hours to get him off the rock, and the foot was in a carck about an inch wide half inch deep and about 4 inches long. And it wasn't a small maxi lol

I've tried the power head method, for 3 days and they didn't budge. Tried covering them up with black plastic for 7 days, still didn't budge. Ice cubes only work if you can apply them directly to the foot long enough to get them to move. I even tried cutting one with a razor blade. All that did was cause it to retract into the hole, no worse for ware-lol. Tenacious lil buggers thats for sure!!
Thank you all for the suggestions :)
