Wasn't really sure where the best place to post this would be..I just got a tank and it came with a remora hob skimmer. I will be running a sump and have no use for this. It's the skimmer and collection cup, an mj1200 pump, and a prefilter box. Any idea what this is worth? Also, I'm sorry if this isn't the right place to ask this

Definitely a great skimmer...they tend to go for $80 and up....that one is well-equipped if it has the pump/overflow housing thingy. Who knows the condition of the pump, but I'd guess someone might pay $100 or so for yours if you really don't wanna use it.

I totally understand wanting to stick a skimmer in your sump since you're getting a sump - I mean everyone does it - but consider this:

It's most efficient to skim the display directly - and very nice if you can (also) skim the top layer of water directly. That Remora does both.

There's no reason you can't still use the Remora and just use the sump for everything else. You would just have that much more space at your disposal down there and the sump would be easier/more open to cleaning. Arguably the Remora is also going to be easier to clean that any skimmer that would be in your sump - I mean it sits right at the back of the tank - generally within arm's reach. It's also designed as one of the easiest to clean skimmers out there.

Just some thoughts. :)

Thank you for the responses, wish I had seen this before I agreed to sell it locally this weekend for $40 lol
