Aqua Illumination AI SOL Blue

It is an Oceanic Illuminata

Yes, but alas it was discontinued and now quite rare. The closest thing you can find now are the new Reef Octopus Tanks (salty supply has them). One of the models is the same footprint, but a bit shorter.

My light and controller got shipped today. Will be here on Wed-Thursday! Ill post pics when I get it temporary setup until my EXT comes in. Super Stoked!!!! haha

Just got my light in. I plugged it up. Looks great. I do have 1 question ab the light. When I 1st plugged it up the fan ran for ab 20 seconds and cut off. Does this fan cut on and off depending on the temp of the fixture?

Yes, the fans only run when needed. Mine rarely runs at all and I unplugged my external fans built into the canopy too. Actually I placed one of the canopy fans on my Reefkeeper so it comes on if the canopy gets too warm which has never happened yet since switching to the AI Sols.

I think 1 over a 29 is more than adequate to support just about anything. I run 2 over a 57, but neither is set above 50% intensity (35% White and 45% blue), and SPS are growing well.

I don't understand how people run them at 80% and even 100%.

Me either! I ran mine at 80% for a few weeks - and murdered about 1/2 my coral. :/

I haven't lost a single coral running at 100% in the 8 months my tank has been set up. Good growth on everything from zoos to sps. Just added a 3rd and brought it down to 80% on a 4'x2'x2' 120.

Crazy how that works. Of course the tank is twice the volume as mine but still the depth is similar.

Well I think im gonna try and make a hanging kit 1st. Bought 3/4 Alum pipe from work. Gonna bent a 45 degree angle in it. Drill holes through the end of the bent end and cap it. Then run hanging wire around the hanging bracket I go with the light.

Any ideas on how I should set up my light with the timer( Run Time ). % of each color and how long.

Here is how I run my 2 on my 57:

1000 - Blue 45%, 2 hour ramp time
1100 - White 35%, 2 hour ramp time
2100 - White 0%, 2 hour ramp time
2200 - Blue 4%, lunar cycle, 2 hour ramp time
0100 - Blue 0%

This seems to work very well for my setup. Of course, your results and preferences will be different. This gives me some nice blue lighting/sunrise/sunset at the beginning and end of the photo period. Also I prefer to kill the moonlights at 1am just because I am never up that late, and I see no reason to burn the LEDs that extra amount of time between 0100-1000, even if only at 4%.

Very nice Just Clownnin Around! Looks great! One key piece of advice.... DON'T underestimate this unit. It has the capability of bleaching all your corals, even your sps! I am running at 50% at peak on just the blue and have still bleached some sps. Go low and slow!
