Looking for advise: I have a 100 gallon tank and have been unable to sustain or grow Coraline Algae. All of my levels (Alk, Mag, Cal) are good and stable. Coral look great. Talking with my LFS he felt the issue was my lighting. I am using 3 Hydra 26. The LFS was using Red Sea ReefLED 90. He felt the Red Sea spectrum was tuned more to support the buildup of Coraline Algae. Based on that I would have to assume if that is the source of the problem I just need to adjust how I have my AI configured (per color). Looking for someone who has Coraline Algae growing and what settings they are using on their AI. Thanks in advance for the help.

Lol that is complete BS! They’re just trying to sell you a new product. I suggest you find a new lfs. Hydra 26’s grow coralline. And how do they know how well the Red Sea light, a brand new product, grows?!?!? My hydra 26hd over my 45 gallon Jbj is growing coralline just fine. I scrape coralline off the glass weekly. Do you have the hd model? I’m running a modified ab setting. What are your nitrate and phosphate levels as that does effect coralline growth. And what %’s? Here’s mine

I have a TON of coraline algae in my tank under Hydra 26HD's. It is only a 4ob, so keep that in mind. I have my lights set as follows.

UV - 84
V - 84
RY - 84
B - 84
G -16
DR - 16
CW - 25

I have a 4 hour ramp up, 4 hour ramp down, and 2 hour peak. It is a mixed reef with zoas, shrooms, LPS, a little SPS, nems, and a clam.

How high are your lights above the tank?

I think that also makes a big difference. Mine is 12 inches above the tank

Hydras will grow coral, and Coraline...PERIOD. If you're thinking about buying new lights, buy the Aquatict Life Hybrid, and use your Hydras and the T5. You will not regret that combo.

Stick with the AB+ schedule, and set it to acclimation mode. And I think it was a member of R2R that created the AB+ for the Hydras, and BRS just tuned it.

3 26s over a 100g tank just seems like not enough light... what is the depth and dimensions of the tank... I have an 80g tank and had 3 26s over it and I had nothing growing. I now have 2 52s and 2 26s and finally have coral color growth and my tank is purple. My tank is a corner bow so it's a weird shape. So I have the 2 52s towards the front and the 26s behind where the tank is narrower.

Heres a screenshot of my settings

I agree, I have 2 of them over my 40b. If it is a 48" tank the 3 may do, but you might have to crank them to get good PAR at the bottom of the tank. I would add another light for a 60", and at least 1 (maybe even 2) more for a 72" tank.

3 Hydra 26hd on a standard 4ft tank with aquaticlife hybrid. Lights are sitting at 11 inches above water line. Running modified AB+ with a longer ramp down

I run the EXACT same setup FWIW. Mine are 10" off the water

I have 2 hydra 26s on a 70 gallon. I can tell you right now that photoperiod is extremely important when setting up your lights. Keeping the white at 19 is high if you are going for 9-12hr photoperiod. I keep mine at 5-8 never more. When I did, I had bad results. Red and green are at 3 and never higher for me. Blues seem good at the first setting but violet is a little high. Again, you need to adjust based on photoperiod. These lights are strong and will blast your corals if set too high.
