Aqua Illumination Hydra 52HD Power Adapter Question

Hello folks,

One of the AC adapters for my Hydra 52HD has shorted out this morning after 4+ years. I was looking for information for a replacement AC adapter at a cheaper alternative than the aqua illumination website for $90USD + $57CAD , roughly $180CAD after the currency conversion. The picture below is the specs of the shorted out adapter. I can find an adapter on amazon for a DC output of 36V, 4.0A for much cheaper. The specs on the shorted adapter show 36V 3.61A. Would the 4A be sufficient? I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to electricity. Also, are there any other considerations I should look into before purchasing? Thanks!

It should run it fine.
The amerage is variable based on load, the voltage and getting to the minimum amperage for your device is what matters.
That AI power supply = 36 volts * 3.61 amps = 129.96 watts maximum output
Replacement = 36 volts * 4 amps = 144 watts maximum output

13 leds per puck 4 pucks 52 leds

129.96/52 = 2.49 watts per LED and I suspect they are 3 watt rated leds
144/52 = 2.76 watts per led which is still below 3 watts

So even if it tried to push too many amps to the leds, which is highly unlikely, you're still under the 3 watt LED rating.
