Hi, is anyone running the AI Vega. I know there new but looking to get them for my 180 mixed Reef. The foot print with the two support bracing leaves me with 3 two foot by two foot area.
My question is anyone running them on a 180gal and if so how many??

Have you looked at the hydras? I'm thinking of converting my sols. Just wondering if you knew anything about them and why you are going vega's

Hopefully get a good deal on them. That's the only reason. I'm running 3 400watters now and fill its time to come to the dark side. Reading and seeing a lot of sucsess with leds now and for sometime. They say one Vega puts out 24x24 . I'm thinking I may need six to be safe. Just putting out fillets on anyone running them on a 180.

I run 4 Vegas on my 180g mixed reef. My corals do wonderfully under them! I contemplated getting 5 in the beginning, but I'm glad I didn't, it would have been wasted money.

Thank you Connie :). That's what I was looking for. Some one thats running them on a 180gal. With the two support bracings Thats three 2 x 2 sections. Is your supports obstructing any of the lighting and how high are you hanging them. Thanks

I'm running a Vega unit on my 65 supplemented with t5s and I can say my coral are loving it.

Some of my chalices browned but everything is doing amazing.

I say go for it!

I have a canopy over my tank. I have 3 braces and four lights. Here are a couple of pics. Excuse the quality. I just snapped them for you.

I made a hole in my canopy to place them here are some pictures.

Obv I'm sure you want to get them higher since you have a larger tank and want more spread.

6 would be a huge waste of money. You could cover a 180 with three. But since you have 3 400 watts. Then you might need 4 vegas

I run four Vegas over an Eight foot span 300g. Each covers a 2 ft x 2ft area. There is a lot variability with the intensity so you can get it dialed in to where you want, but three would prob do it.
There is also a lot variability in the bracket. I put mine 'backwards'.

FTS right after set up about nine months ago. I thought more then four would be pretty crowded.
