My AK V2 only seems to have 2 fanspeeds, fully on/fully off, which is quit annoying in a quiet room. I can hear it switch on/switch off constantly.
According the manufacturer it should have a variable fanspeed. The hotter it gets, the faster the fan will spin. In my case, this is defenitely not the case, just on/off.

Is mine malfunctioning?

Maybe you should consider asking the seller or the manufacturer?

I have one and barely hear the fan turn on except when it gets super hot

Good catch. Like you previously, my fan is only on/off, which is leading to a constant and noisy ramping up, then off. I've shined a light in the top and can confirm the fan is one speed.

Seems defective.

Hope you can get a new one? It's definitely worth it to try to get an exchange because my new one is such a relief, i haven't heard the fan ever since. It never ramps up to 100% fanspeed in my case.

Thanks. I'm very happy with this light apart from this one issue. I've reached out to the place where I got it from. Happy that you were able to get yours sorted! :)

It's a great light. Maybe it also wouldn't be a bad idea to find out which electric part inside is responsible for the malfunction, so we can replace it by ourselves if needed in the future once the warantee is gone.

"According the manufacturer it should have a variable fanspeed."

Getting a replacement soon.
This is good news. The two lights I received in December 2020 have the same on/off fan problem. Actually be careful with the power supply. One blew up after 1h working at 100% power! I heard a big pop and smelled burned plastic. Luckily I was there when it happened. I opened the power brick to see what whent wrong: the fuse blew up partially.

I say partially because there was still some light before I cut the power. The fuse should have cut the power completely… These power bricks are undersized and seem to be a potential safety hazard!
The second brick was very hot so I am not using it.
Big disappointment! I reached out to the reseller (Good Home-Accessories on AliExpress).
