Aqua lifter needs a foot valve

has anyone used a foot valve or check valve on the suction line of there aqua lifter ? I want to install one but I’m having difficulty locating one the works with low pressure and is sized for 1/2 tubing.

I would put it on the discharge side.
I just bought one at Petsmart the other day

Air line check valves work but are not reliable in the least. I had some syphon issues with mine, to fix it I mounted the pump higher than the res and line into sump. Fixed the syphon isses.
