I have not had one for a while ,but they are good lights. Down the road of an ATI and better than a Tek fixture. Some had fans, some did not. If it works, I would go for it.
AquaMedic used to make really, really nice lights before they made the stupid decision to stop and only sell Kessils.
Some of their Halide setups are like gold and will get snatched up in a heartbeat by people who know...

Most quality T5 and MH fixtures will run for a long time - i have some running since early 2000s without any issues. If it works, then it works. When they do break, it is usually a socket or starter or something that is easily fixable. Rusty reflectors are the only thing that I do not mess with.
