You can, but what is the intended reason or need to do this? Modifications are always possible but there generally has to be a need for such.Anyone cut out / removed the skimmer basket holder panel from the sump on an Aqua One Reef Sys 326?

Yeah I understand that. I no longer want to run the filter socks. With the top panel on the water flow is noisy due to the drop. Ideally removing the panel so water will waterfall in instead of dropping through the basket holes. This then opening up more accessible room for bio media

It will be noisier with it gone. Remove the sock lids with the holes and make sure you use fleece filter socks. Should quiet it down a bit but trust me. the waterfall effect of removing the black top plate will make it louder.
