That's outstanding Rich!!!!..........I never got the rainbow part, but the pink and green combo this milli has are attractive to me. I have procured a recent frag, but it's just a green turd right now.

Thanks BigE. Cook your frag and the hot pink should come out. Based on the colors you get I'm sure it won't be long 
The base is hot pink, polyps are green, tips seem to grow yellowish? Not a rainbow but a cool milli. I bet this piece can look awesome in a ULN tank or a tank dosing zeo spur. The neon colors would probably come out like the original colony pic.

It isn't a legit rainbow, but it has that name, and i think it only has been kept that name for lineage

Are there really any true rainbow acros?
I was reading your question and had to ask myself... What exactly is a true rainbow acro? Are there certain colors? Are there a minimum number of colors? PC Rainbow has orange, pink, yellow, green, and in rare instances... blue. I think that the PC rainbow acro (at least the encrusting base) is a good example of a rainbow acro. Unfortunately, I do not think we, as R2Reefers, have ever defined what a true rainbow acro really is. What are your thoughts, Brandon?

I think 4 colors tends to be the rule of thumb in the industry. But i think there is anything and everything, it is a big ocean.

There really is no definition to what makes a "rainbow acro" but with using the word rainbow I believe it should start there. In my opinion the people who name these corals use the word rainbow for sales purposes, considering most of us want all the colors of the rainbow in our tanks and want them bright and vibrant.

I always say four colors are rainbows, three colors are tricolors. I don't want to clog this thread with any pics of what acros I have that I consider rainbows.
Jackson, what colors are in that tenuis? I see blue pink and green. The pink is nice, I would bet it will change tones with different lighting and tank conditions as well.

Agreed. I got a "rainbow" hyanthicus from a vendor which is tan with mayyyybe a little yellow in the tips. No clue what colors its supposed to be but I am hoping it turns out nice. I would bet a lot of money that it isn't 4 colors once it becomes mature.

Be careful when buying "rainbow" labeled corals. If you're going to drop good coin on a coral try to find it in other people's tanks especially those who have the same type lighting as you to get as good of an idea as you can to what it actually looks like. Personally, I prefer to buy coral from fellow reefers. Hope with more time in your tank that your rainbow hycanthus becomes just that.
