Aqua UV instalation?

My father is hooking up his 40watt aqua UV. I told him it was hooked up backwards as far as the in and out. Will it matter? Does anyone know witch should be in and witch should be out? It doesn't say on it.

If the inside of the UV is just a chamber, it might be ok for connecting other way around. If the UV is like QL40, it's not okay.

Right and I checked it bc I have the ql40 but his is just opened inside. No direct flow. I made him switch it around tho lol. Thank you for your response
