I ordered a Aqua UV 25 watt classic to be used on a 65 gallon mixed reef. I don't want to hardline it into the return of the plumbing and would rather use an additional pump and have the treated water feed into the return part of the sump. Has anyone else used this sterilizer and method? What pump did you use or find works best?

According to the manual, it is recommended to follow the 30,000 - 45,000 uw/cm2 (EOL) GPH for reef tanks, which indicates a flow rate between 1200 - 800 GPH, respectively. Anything slower apparently is not recommended for reef tanks or tanks with live rock. Just seems a bit high GPH for proper UV exposure. Thoughts??

I am shooting for 336,000 uw/cm2 for ich management. Flow through an Aqua UV 57w is 285 gph to reach this number. UV affects water that passes through the sterilizer and will have no affect on sand and live rock. You can feed the sterilizer from the return pump or a separate pump. I would choose an adjustable DC pump to get the flow you need.
