Hello, Calling all protein skimmer pros! I purchased this protein skimmer and am trying to figure out how to install it with my limitations. I have 33" height underneath the cabinet (about 32" is required to fit this skimmer) and my sump water level is 12" so I cant install inside my sump (max water level for in sump install is about 9"). I would prefer not to have to cut a hole through the side of my sump but even if I did the skimmers outflow is at about 9" high and, as stated, the water level in the sump is about 12" and no room to raise the skimmer).
I could run the protein skimmer right outside the sump if I could run the protein skimmers drain up and over the sump wall with 3 90s (my sump wall is 16" high) is this possible? (preferred). I think theres risks of flooding is very real when the sump shuts off but there may be ways to prevent this.
Alternatively, I could run my protein skimmer outside the cabinet but it would require me to install it 2-3' above the sump (at the level of the aquarium) or I could place the skimmer at roughly 8" above the bottom of the sump but the pump and drain pipe would be about 6' away from the skimmer.
Are any of these possible?
