So I've been running the media that comes with the aquaclear filter for 2.5 months. I'm feeling like this is overdue for a change but I know that replacing your media can ruin your tanks bacteria? I've been afraid to replace it so I am just wondering what I should be doing and how often I should be replacing.

How big of a tank and how much live rock do you have? If you have an established tank with plenty of live rock, changing out the filter in the aquaclear shouldn't hurt anything.

fork aquaclear you can switch it out in stages... I would keep the ceramic circles, and spongue, but switch out the carbon. Squeeze the spongue under some RO/DI to clean it up, but there will still be plenty of bacteria on the sponge after.
If you want to switch out the sponge as well, put a new one in the filter but put the old one in teh display tank for a week or so to ensure the bacteria is seeded in the new sponge.
