Hello reefers I recently bought an aqueon 15 gallon column from petco. I have an ac50 hob filter I was just wondering do u think it’s possible to fit a skimmer inside or should I just stick with just some chaeto and my heater in there?

Skip the skimmer on a 15 gallon column. I would stick some cheato in there but I would leave the heater in the main tank.

I wouldn’t bother with the chaeto or a skimmer in there, really not enough space. Best bet is to use some Purigen and PhosNet.

So u don’t think I need a skimmer on my reef? Can I run purigen and phosnet in my hob filter?

For that small a tank weekly water changes are sufficient. But if your planning on heavy feedings with monthly water changes then a suitable sized skimmer would work. A suitable sized skimmer would more than like either not fit or leave no room for anything else in an AC50.

That’s good news to hear thanks. Ill just go with no skimmer or fuge and do weekly water changes and see how that goes.
