So I have an aquaclear 70 and I bought an INTANK media basket, the bubble looking one. And I just want sum tips on what media to put into it.

In all honesty I don’t really fancy putting filter floss into the first compartment and changing it every 2 days. In my eyes that’s a money pit. (Yes Ik reefing already is a money pit xD )but any other ideas? Im going to be using chemiPure Blue and changing that as needed but any other tips on what to use for filtration?

You should really have some sort of mechanical filter, be it a sponge or floss. Otherwise its just going to make your chemupure abd biomedia (if you have that) fill with gunk. You don't need to change floss every 2 days unless the tank is really dirty. Again I would just get a small sponge and once a week take it out and squeeze it / swoosh it around in a bit of water from a water change. You can also use filter pads and cut them to size, put dirty ones in a bucket, then wash them all at once with warm water once they are dirty.

Agree with spare time. Without mechanical filtration before the chemipure/whatever media you choose, it will gunk up and clog the water flow through it. I use an intank media filter rack in my 10 gallon nano and only have to change the filter floss at MOST twice a week. I can usually get a full week out of it though. What kind of system are you running (fish only, softy tank, mixed reef)? I only run filter floss and carbon for my media. Nothing else needed unless you have nutrient problems.

I’m Also building a 10g nano, first time but I got a 220 in the works but for rn 10 to get my feet wet. Anyways for filtration I wanted to use the chemi pure but in the second chamber, also I wanted to use the ceramic media the aquaclear 70 came with, I feel like the sponge will become a nitrate factory with all the gunk. As for what I’m going to be stocking... goby and shrimp, and MAYBE a pair of clowns. Also for corals, I’m wanting to run softies and sum LPS like candy canes and scolds and Favia. With sum snails and a hermit or two. I don’t think that’s to much bioload imo but feel free to chime in ur opinion. Any-who if I do end up using filter floss in that first chamber can I just reuse it and alternate filter floss like. Use a clean one then change it out and clean it and then when the replace it with the original and clean the one that was being use? And then continue that? Also I’m also thinking of using the third chamber for sum chaeto and using my A80 also hit the chaeto chamber..

You just need to keep the sponge clean, use activate carbon, the ceramic Stuff is to small surface area to be valuable. Nice piece of really porous rock, well cycled, better idea.

I mean of course I wasn’t gana run just the ceramic, I was thinking the white rock I forget the name, or maybe life rock, idk which one yet. But also live sand from Carib sea.

Yes I'm running ceramic as well, it doesn't hurt to have the extra surface area due to the porosity. You will be fine with the bio load. Just make sure to have enough rock in the tank. Good flow is always good for a pico as well to stir up the deadspots.

I’m thinking the AquaClear70 is good enough for the flow if it’s not I’ll get get a koralia nano And put it in the opposite side. Should I run chaeto in the third compartment of the INTANK right before the water exits?

I would count for an additional pump from the start. You would rather have more flow than not enough. I have a strong return pump and a strong wavemaker and still feel like I could use more.

Skip the chaeto. There isn't enough room for it to grow enough to make a difference.
