AquaClear Ammonia Remover Filter Insert?

Finally got the QT setup. 29 gallon with a hood and freshwater type of bulb. Going to use DT water and then set up the AquaClear filter, heater and ammonia badge. I also got a AquaClear filter insert ammonia remover and wanted to know if this is something I should use or stay clear from?

Tested my water Saturday and after almost 3 weeks it was perfect. Still doing a water change and will use that water that I take out for the QT tank. Thoughts welcome!
I wanna do this right so please correct me if I am wrong.

This would be a better product for that, just cut it to size. Except for if you end up using the QT as a hospital... this will remove the medication. So take it out while treating. http://www.amazon.com/Poly-Bio-Mari...F8&qid=1462819624&sr=1-2&keywords=poly-filter

Also, how can i find the large PVC elbows? Only ones are 1 inch and very small for fish

Lowes or Home Depot should carry a nice selection of PVC.

These guys got it. Dont run anything that will remove the meds from the water (like carbon) while treating. It's always good to have something like that on hand though in case you need to strip the meds from the water quickly - and after treatment is done.
