What are some online places that sell a good selection of aquacultured/tank raised marine fish ?
When I begin stocking my tank again after losing all but one fish to velvet disease I want to try to buy only tank raised fish in the hope that they’ll be hardier and have a better chance of surviving.

Biota and ORA both have good selections.

Fish from there are likely disease free. But, keep in mind that once they've hit a fish store/whole sale tank, they can pick up diseases there. Some species are much hardier in general if you get tank bred, like bangaii cardinals and clowns. I'm not convinced that everything is always hardier, however.

Directly from Biota on their website.

The ORA section on Live Aquaria comes directly from ORA (unless it says Wisconsin facility).

The biota section on Live Aquaria does not come directly from biota so you would be better off getting those from Biota instead.

Algae Barn also sells Biota that ships direct from Biota. I've purchased a coral from them, and that was the case.

I've bought directly from Biota and from algae barn. All fish arrived in amazing condition, though very small. They are babies. So make sure you prepare for that food-wise.

I've bought clowns, a mandarin, and a coral beauty if you have any questions about mine I'm happy to answer. I did quarantine, but only a 10 day observation period, no medications and I have had no issues with them so far, though the mandarin and coral beauty still have 2 days on their observation period.

I think its the other way round wild caught are hardier
The thing is we can’t really comment on things when it comes to captive bred unfortunately. So far I agree with you though but because our CB fish are highly priced and it’s rare to ever come across one it’s so hard to actually say if CB fish are truly harder than WC fish.

How's your Coral Beauty doing with nipping your corals?

I believe ORA only seels to LFS therefore I'd make sure the box on arrival went directly to me before LFS placed into circulation. That's my plan on getting a pair of Gold Nuggets. I'll also be ordering direct drom Biota once prices drop. I'm not paying crazy prices even if captive. Fact is captive should be cheaper than wild if conservation the true goal and not profits. Granted it is expensive to produce captive yet acceptance not going to happen if only the wealthy can afford. These aren't Teslas

Yes! That’s my big issue on CB fish, not only are they a ridiculous price but also they tend to come with deformities.

Been keeping and breeding Boa Constrictors since the late 80s. Deformities exist because in the wild they'd be eliminated but in captivity we the breeder are responsilbe to cull the week. Not all life is meant to live and those that should have been culled should not be sold. To what extent aquaculture breeders are culling is just a guess but it should be.

I have sps, lps, and a small bit of xenia. She has touched nothing. The radial filefish harrases the xenia. However, I will say she is still quite young and I do mix some frozen food for angelfish into the mix when I feed the fish, I think it includes things like sponges that angelfish like.

For the most part, I think they will leave everything alone if they have enough space and their dietary requirements are met.
