Aquacultured Strawberry Shortcake Acro vs. Wild

I got a frag of both recently. Just for kicks I placed them near each other for comparisons. The Aquacultured has the advantage off the bat, it's a bigger frag and had slightly better color even though it browned on me right after I got it. The maricultured was tiny and basically colorless when I got it aside from a hint of minty green if you turned your head the right way.

Both are starting to grow and color up now so I thought it might be interesting to see them grow out together and post updates here.

These are under all led lighting in my 75 gallon tank on the upper rock work.

I have both as well. The wild one looks more like POTO red tulip to me with long polyps. Original ssc I think is a lot nicer

I also think the advantage of the aquacultured one is that it has been in a glass box for longer and has been able to adapt to the conditions....as you know the maricultured one has just been plucked from growing areas in the ocean, I would bet that after awhile they may catch up to one another...or maybe change to a "new" color scheme.

They both look nice though and I agree the aquacultured looks much more colorful.

Nice frags duke62. I found out from the vendor mine was actually wild Aussie also. I need to edit the thread.

Encrusting about the same rate and coloring up nicely. Definitely different colors in both. The wild frag colored up quickly. I've had other wild corals that take forever to show any color and this one is already showing some nice colors.

Wild grown from a frag. So I guess a frag of mine is aquacultured? See how that works?

Haha, yep. That's what we hope for. Some of those wild don't make it to the aquacultured stage. Nice job on that colony.
