Can't say for sure but I have joined their waitlist for out of stock items in the past and I don't remember it taking all that long but it probably depends on the particular item.

out of stock though. any idea how often they restock? @AlgaeBarn

Not sure with them, I’ve been waiting a while for them to get chaeto back in stock. If you find the black footed trochus snails, they reproduce in the tank so you’ll have your own tank bred snails in time. At least that’s been my experience.

Make sure they are the cone shaped red banded , there's another kind maybe different ocean or whatever but they aren't as good . Also be aware the aquacultured ones are usually tinnnny. They spawned in my tank and literally got stuck in my pump propellers and seized them . Then again didn't have a normal sump but that's another story . Unique corals sells the tiny ones . I used to get mine from reefs2go when they were bogo , but I wouldn't buy from them with your money anymore .

They reproduce like rabbits in my tank. Every time I thin my chaeto there are hundreds of them a little bigger than a pencil lead. I've got a bunch of adults in my tank and only started with 4. Here's the most recent spawn. Turned my water in to milk for about 2 hours!

Skip ahead to 1:06, the first part is my RFAs spawning the same night.

The aquacultured trochus snails we carry tend to be pretty big, just under an inch for the bottom shell diameter. They are comparable to the wild-caught ones I have seen. We occasionally get a 3in trochus in :-), but those are rare and a little more challenging to ship.

This is freaking awesome! PMed.

@AlgaeBarn what do you recommend as far as upgrading shipping for trochus snails? I know some snails do fine with priority 2-3 day transit, but for others 2-3 days means DOA guaranteed.

incredible! what's your secret? how often do you see spawning events like this?

I don't think them spawning is very out of the ordinary. If you have good water quality they should spawn. The problem is getting them to the size of about a dime. Before they get to that size lots of fish eat them.

As far as how often, I've had three RFA spawns this year. I've only caught the one massive Trochus spawn but there must have been others as I've got several different size babies in my sump.

so for a invert-only system, chances of the spawn making it to adulthood is high (assuming water quality is good)?

We have had decent luck with the trochus this summer. It's not the level that we would like (we aim for 99% or greater). I would recommend UPS 2nd day or next day. We are planning some packaging redesigns in the next few months.

I can also check your zip and get back to you regarding transit time.

I know you'll find empty shells you'll need to clean out every 9-12mos. lol.

i dont believe in cleanupcrews bc youre the one that has to "cleanup" when they all die in 9-12mos.

Do reg WCs, grow live beneficial-bacteria that eats unwanted-algae, no3, po4, organics....all by dosing a 50-50 mix of Vodka & Vinegar

I don't know about high. I put 7 or 8 of the tiny ones (they are white at that size) in my 10 gallon which only has two barnacle blennies in it. Three made it to adulthood. My Halichoeres wrasses are the ones that prey on the little ones in the main tank.
