Aquaforest 1+2+3

Welcome!
I use the 123 (mix my own, which is cheaper by 2/3rds). Your best bet would be to stabilize all your parameters where you want them before moving to dosing regimen. The ratios that each is consumed is pretty consistent and I've maintained rock solid levels by dosing the three in equal amounts.

I'd start by making sure your salinity measurements are correct. Something has pushed your Ca high. Could be dosing another product, salt mix or higher than normal salinity.

Once you're sure the salinity is right, re-check the calcium level in the tank, as well as in freshly mixed water to get some clues why the Ca is high. Lower the Ca either with water changes, or by letting it come down on it's own without adding anything that increases it.

Increase your Mg to closer to sea water levels. Somewhere between 1300-1450 is good.

Keep dosing whatever you are already doing to maintain the Alk, so that the Ca can continue to come down. If the alk supplement you are already using contains calcium, then just plain baking soda is a fine substitute for short term use.

With a consumption of only 0.1 dKH per day, you probably will only need a few ml. Dose less than you think you need, and correct it manually until you find the point where it's balanced and you no longer need to make manual corrections.
Hey thanks very much and what an amazing amount of comments. I’m picking up on yours as wanted to say I’ve just done some tests.
salinity is 1.025 always has been.
my Ca 520. Mg 1200 Alk dropped exactly 0.1 a day and now at 7.6. (I’ve stopped dosingfor now)
I’ve never had high Ca before. I started dosing Alk and worked out the right amount and it stayed at 8.4. It’s only since I started dosing Alk that my mg has dropped and Ca shot up. I stopped dosing as read that if you dose Alk but not Ca it causes Ca to rise? Don’t really understand how I’m meant to maintain Alk if it throws Ca out. Hence why I bought the Aquaforest 123 but now I can’t start using it as My parameters are out.
Hope that makes sense.

Calcium has to be introduced, it doesn't just increase on it's own. What specific product(s) were you dosing before you bought the 123? This could be a bad or contaminated test kit as well, can someone confirm the Ca test for you?

I would still recommend putting Mg where it needs to be and continue to maintain between 7-8 alk while waiting for Ca to come down.

Thanks for helping.
I was dosing Seachem- Reef carbonate (Is this the bit where you tell me it contains calcium?)

One of my tanks are aquaforest and in addition to 1-2-3 which works great, use components Strong and Vitality, Build and Aminos. You WILL see a diference.

Nope, no calcium in that it seems. If nothing else was being added I'd look towards a problem with the salt, salinity or test results.

I use 1+2+3+ and you must get your levels close to the salt and levels you plan to keep. If your calcium is really that high it could take months at your alk usage to come down I would suggest a few large water changes to get you at 8 alk 420 cal 1300 mag. Use the af calculator to get your daily amount to add based on your water volume and your 0.1 dkh per day usage. It takes a while to settle in but once you have it dialed in it’s very consistent have fun!

Hanna Ca is broke
Bought a new aquaforest tester and my Ca is at 330. Tested 3 times. Lol. So it is low but at least I can dose and get it up. Alk staying the same so my usage is definitely 0.1 a day. Once Mg and Ca are up I’ll dose equally of component 1+2+3.
great advise to check my tester
Thanks.

I’m just picking back up on this after a bit of time. So I’ve got my Ca at 430 and Mg at 1250 and Alk at 7.5. My Alk drops by 0.1 per day so I dose 15mm in equal amounts. But my Alk still drops by 0.1 a day.
ddo you know why?
