Questions about Barium results from Triton sample test. I recieved my test results yesterday and my Barium is over 95 ppm higher than seawater. I use Aquaforest reef salt and dose components 123. I have attached the test results. Any suggestions on where its coming from? Based on there suggestions, they mention GFO as the culprit, EXCEPT Rowa phos and Phosban. I use Rowa Phos GFO. They also mention dry fish food as a possible culprit. I use Hikari Marine A, and seaweed extreme. I also recently started using DEPellets from Discine Energetics. I feed dry pellets daily and LRS about twice a week. One last comment about the results, my iodine is Low... I started dosing Lugol's Solution yesterday when the test results arrived. Any suggestions from Randy and Aquaforest would be greatly appreciated in dialing in my tank and lowering my Barium and increasing my Iodine.

I see my test results did not post correctly .. let me see if I can get them posted for your review.

I am not sure the barium is high enough to be a concern. Note it is ppb, not ppm. I’ve heard it can come from some brands of GFO and can be removed by aluminum oxide phosphate binders.

I also do not know if supplemental iodine is useful, but it is easy enough to experiment with dosing and see if it seems beneficial. [emoji3]

Thanks Randy, my goal like everyone else with Sticks is color. Can Barium cause sps not produce their best colors? I know there are many other causes and stability gets you the best results but in your opinion, Just keep doing what I am doing based on test results?

If your nutrient levels are in the standard ballpark range, focus on your lighting. That will get you to your goal you want. Dosing trace elements won't matter much if at all for acros.

I do not know. I've not heard that is an effect.
